‘Improving Your Author Website and Media Kit’ coming to Village Writing School Oct. 28

ROGERS— Authors seeking to start or improve their website and media kit will have the opportunity with the workshop “Improving Your Author Website and Media Kit” coming 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, October 28 at the Center for Non-Profits at St. Mary’s in Rogers, Ark.

Led by Jamie Smith, owner of the writing services company Jamie’s Notebook, this workshop will teach participants the basic components of what makes an effective author website, as well as how to incorporate a media kit into that website. The workshop will conclude with each participant either creating a website development plan or a website improvement plan that he or she can then put into action on their own.

Part of this workshop that is unique from others is that it examines the idea of a website and media kit in concert with each other instead of looking at them as separate communication tools.

“It used to be that authors or their publicist would issue media kits including a bio, pictures, book descriptions, and other promotional items,” Smith said. “Technology simplifies this process and enhances the author’s ability to personally reach his or her audience through an author website and a simplified media kit.”
